AdAMFM school is rescheduled - NEW DATES : 26-30 May, 2022

Description :

This school concerns ferroics, which are materials presenting a parameter of order like the magnetization, the polarization or the deformation which can be reversed by their conjugated field that is to say the magnetic field, electrical and mechanical respectively. These order parameters can also be coupled allowing a multitude of new properties. It is understandable that ferro and multiferroic materials can accumulate many properties which is important to understand the fundamental mechanisms at their origin and therefore multiple functionalities that make these materials systems of interest for industrial applications.

The aim of this School is to provide a comprehensive foundation for researchers in the field of multiferroïc materials. The lectures will introduce key topics of current interest together with the theoretical, experimental and computer simulation approaches used to address them.

Objectives :

The objectives of the school are:

  • Consolidate and widen participants' knowledge of ferro and multiferro materials

  • Allow the participants to have an extended visibility on the state of the art in this field and the scientific and applicative stakes of these materials

  • To know better the techniques best adapted to solve a given scientific problem

  • Stimulate interaction. The chosen formula makes it possible to create links between the participants of the different laboratories as well as between the confirmed researchers and the young researchers or students. Strong interaction between teachers and participants will be generated, notably through question and answer sessions integrated into the timetable. Participants will also be invited to present their research topics (poster sessions).

For this purpose, the meeting will bring together scholars from diverse scientific disciplines to promote discussion, kick-start collaborations across the boundaries of individual disciplines, and convey the enormous potential of multiferroics research to a new generation of young researchers and students.

The AdAMFM school has different emphases and lecturers to reflect current areas of interest. The focus areas are: i) the co-existence and cross-coupling between different long-range orders (magnetic, dipolar, ferroelastic, …) ii) The search for new materials showing strong magneto-electric coupling and multiferroicity as well as perspectives for multifunctional applications.

Systems of interest will range from bulk compounds to composites, from thin films to hybrid nanostructures.

TOPICS:

  • Multiferroics, basics, state-of-the-art, and applications

  • Ferroelectrics and polar materials

ADAMFM school has a limited capacity. If the number of applications is beyond the capacity, a selection will take place on utility of participation with priority to PhD students. Therfore, a short abstract of your reacherch topic should be submitted with your application.

All participants will receive diploma. Tunisian PhD students will also receive “credits” according the relevant Tunisian “Ecole Doctorale".

The official language is English. The lectures may be given in English or French.
